The City of Victorias was selected to pilot the implementation of the electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System (eCRVS) in Negros Occidental, with the memorandum of agreement signed between the local government and the Philippine Statistics Authority, through the Regional Statistical Services Office (RSSO), at City Hall Feb. 18.

The ceremony saw three signings for the implementation of the eCRVS in the City of Victorias for the Office of the City Civil Registrar, the Victorias City Health Office Maternity and Lying-in Clinic, and the Espie Amor Birthing Clinic.

Victorias Mayor Abelardo Bantug III said the event is another meaningful step towards the city’s digital transformation journey.

He reaffirmed the city’s commitment to providing faster, accurate, and convenient service to every Victoriasanon, and called for the cooperation of everyone.

RSSO regional director for Negros Island Region John Campomanes, meanwhile, expressed his gratitude in witnessing another milestone between PSA and Victorias.

“This is a significant day because this month, we are also celebrating the 36th Civil Registration Month.” Campomanes added in a city press release.

Victorias Civil Registrar Julie Ann Roa was thankful that the city was selected as the first LGU in Negros Occidental to implement the eCRVS.

She said the system will enable the CCRO to double its capacity and efficiency in serving more clients. “The challenge is great. The system is new to us, but the interface is user-friendly.”

The eCRVS is currently on its pilot phase and will be made available at select health service facilities in Victorias.

The system is expected to lead to a faster, safer, and more efficient way to register civil registration documents, such as births, marriages, and deaths.

Roa, meanwhile, thanked the PSA for donating three desktop computer units with printers and scanners to the CCRO, City Health Office, and Espie Birthing Clinic, all for eCRVS operations.

Espie Birthing Clinic manager Espie Amor Grandia and clinic staff were present at the MOA signing, as well as Dr. Thea Mae Dino, who signed on behalf of CHO head, Dr. Richard Garlitos.

Also in attendance were Victorias Vice Mayor Derek Palanca, councilors Deilen Hofileña, Dexter Senido, Eric Alcobilla, Hermie Millan, and Vincent Marie Roa, and punong barangays, among others. ||
