In a resounding victory for the second consecutive year, the DOST Scholars Association in Negros Oriental (DOST SA NegOr) has once again been crowned the best scholars’ association in Central Visayas.

“Our success can be attributed to several key factors,” said Mark Gelson Panganoron, current president of DOST SA NegOr. “First and foremost, our association’s dedication and commitment to our mission of promoting academic excellence and community engagement have been unwavering.”

The association’s ability to foster strong partnerships and collaborations with various organizations in Dumaguete has also played a pivotal role in their success. Notably, DOST SA NegOr holds a seat in the Local Youth Development Council of Dumaguete, which has allowed them to expand their network, access opportunities, gain knowledge, and secure vital support.

Several initiatives and projects have been instrumental in securing this prestigious award for DOST SA NegOr. Their community outreach program at Pacuan National High School, Busilak Extension, La Libertad, Negros Oriental, where DOST Scholars generously donated school materials to students in need, stands out as a testament to their commitment to giving back.

Active involvement in the Local Youth Development Council in Dumaguete, where they helped organize events benefiting both the youth sector and the entire city, further showcases their dedication to community engagement.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has been a crucial partner for the association, providing scholarships, financial assistance, and growth opportunities. DOST Negros Oriental PSTO has been highly supportive of their activities and events, making event planning a smoother process and significantly helping them expand their reach and impact.

DOST SA NegOr’s commitment to promoting academic excellence, leadership, and community engagement among its members is evident through various initiatives. They organize study sessions to help scholars excel in their studies, conduct leadership training programs, and actively participate in outreach projects.

Winning this award twice in a row is an impressive achievement, and DOST SA NegOr has ambitious plans for the future. They intend to campaign for DOST scholarship opportunities in remote communities, strengthen relationships with fellow scholars, and continue their active engagement with the Local Youth Development Council of Dumaguete.

The Search for the Outstanding DOST Scholars Association in Central Visayas has once again recognized DOST SA NegOr’s outstanding contributions. They received P15,000 and a plaque of recognition for their first place win, reaffirming their status as a beacon of excellence among the DOST scholars’ associations in the region.

DOST SA Negros Oriental is composed of two scholars’ association under its umbrella: DOST Scholars Association in Negros Oriental State University (DOST SA NORSU) and DOST Scholars Association in Silliman University (DOST SA SU).

DOST VII initiated the contest to recognize the scholar association’s effort for the quality of their engagements and endeavors including their contribution to the organization members, the university/college, the DOST and the community.
