A disaster response worker from Kabankalan City died after collapsing inside a pension house in Barangay Santo Rosario, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental Sept. 8.
The police said that “Ely”, 57, married, from Barangay 1, Kabankalan, and an employee of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, checked into the Robas Pension House alone at around 11:45 a.m. before an unidentified woman joined him in his room at 12:05 noon.
Just minutes after her arrival, “Ely” suddenly collapsed on the floor, the Binalbagan Municipal Police Station (MPS) said in a report.
Responding Binalbagan rescuers rushed to the scene and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation then transported the victim to the Binalbagan Infirmary.
The attending municipal health officer declared him dead on arrival, with cardiac arrest listed as initial cause of death.
Police said the victim’s family declined a post-mortem examination, adding that “Ely” had a history of pre-existing heart problem and that they believed his death was due to natural causes related to his medical condition. | TMD
