The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO) has confirmed Sept. 9 that U.S. citizen and military veteran Nathan Macvittie, 43, earlier reported missing, is alive and safe.
Capt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson for NOrPPO, said they were able to track Macvittie and establish direct contact to confirm his well-being.
Macvittie informed authorities that he is in good condition and has already contacted his family in the United States.
His family had reported him missing weeks after arriving in the Philippines and losing contact with him mid-June.
His family provided a flyer to local media Sept. 6 containing information about Macvittie’s financial timeline showing transactions made through his automated teller machine cards in Negros Island Region, with last recorded transaction made in Tayasan, Negros Oriental July 20.
Acting on the information, the NOrPPO conducted a validation and verification and was able to confirm Macvittie’s safety, with no indication of a foul play or threat to his safety.
He also informed authorities that he had recently traveled to Iloilo City.
In a statement, NOrPPO assures the public that it remains responsive to reports involving missing persons and foreign nationals, and will continue to work closely with concerned individuals, families, and partner-agencies to ensure their safety and well-being. | TMD
