The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office said 99 percent of its 2,386 personnel have already been vaccinated, as of Dec. 6.

P/Lt. Abegael Donasco, NOCPPO deputy spokesperson, said that 2,030 of them were fully vaccinated, while 332 are waiting for their second dose.

The remaining 24 unvaccinated police personnel have executed waivers, justifying their reasons for not availing of the anti-COVID vaccines, Donasco also said.

PNP records show that 1,808 police personnel all over the country are not yet vaccinated.

PNP chief, Gen. Dionardo Carlos, earlier said he will implement a “no jab, no duty” policy among the police personnel.

“As public servants and officers of the law, it is our responsibility to uphold public welfare at all times and lead by example in fulfilling the citizen’s duty to promote public health and safety,” Carlos stressed.

Vaccination is “no longer a matter of personal choice, but a matter of public interest for the common good,” he added.

Meanwhile, Donasco said NOCPPO has one remaining active case of COVID-19.

She added that 244 police personnel got infected since last year, and 241 have fully recovered while two policemen died.

NOCPPO is reminding its personnel to comply with protocols in place under Alert Level 2, and to not be complacent since the virus is still around. — GB, MML
