Two tracksters of Polytechnic University of the Philippines and two Recoletos runners emerged as the most bemedalled athletes in the 26th Season of the University Games.
The top PUP performers are Francis Jerome Jamero, a Bachelor of Physical Education sophomore, and Josephine Luha, a first year student in the Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science program.
Jamero won three individual gold medals – in 110-m hurdles, long jump and triple jump – and another three silver medals in the relays – 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400.

Luha finished first in 100m hurdles and was a member of four relay squads – 4×100, 4×200, 4×400 and the 4x100x200x300x400.
She also won a silver medal in 400-m hurdles.
Their medal harvest powered PUP’s campaign for a sweep of the athletics men and women’s plum.
On the heels of the two PUP sports stars are Recoletos athletes Jezel Ann Perez and John Mark Sustento, both first year Criminology students.
Perez emerged the Unigames Sprint Queen after topping 100m, 200m and 400m.
She also won a silver medal in 4x100m relay and was a member of the UNO-R 4x400m quartet that finished third.
Sustento ruled the 1,500, 3,000 and 1,500m runs.
Perez and Sustento’s performances boosted the Recoletos campaign to finish first runner-up in both divisions.
Ken Yoshida of Xavier University emerged as the Sprint King after ruling the 100m and 200m races. | Unigames Media
