Bacolod City is scheduled to host two major sporting events, Mayor Greg Gasataya said.
He said that Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Patrick Gregorio contacted him last week regarding the city’s hosting of the World Archery Philippines regional finals, from Oct. 24 to 28.
The event will feature participants from 60 sports clubs and local government units.
Gasataya said that, according to Councilor Jason Villarosa, the World Amateur Golf Championship Philippine Qualifier is also planned to take place in Bacolod by the third quarter of 2027.
“The city is willing to assist and to help, as well as to support the sports events in Bacolod,” Gasataya said. “We are really providing all the support we can to attract (visitors), just as we have committed to improving sports tourism here in Bacolod.”
He noted that the completion of the football pitch at the Bacolod City National High School will allow the city to accommodate future football competitions. | TMD
