Negros Power said Dec. 16 that its average residential rate this billing month of December decreased by P0.8234 per kilowatt-hour, which means that member-consumers will be paying P11.1876/kWh from P12.01 in November.
The decrease was due to downward adjustments in the generation charge as well as the cost of electricity traded in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).
“Ang isa ka balay nga may average consumption nga 200 kWh kada bulan ang mabuhinan sang 164 pesos sa iya budget sa kuryente,” Negros Power said in an advisory Monday afternoon.
It told member-consumers from Bacolod, Talisay, Silay, Bago, Murcia, and Don Salvador Benedicto that they will receive their bills, with the reflected rate, starting Dec. 16.
Negros Power, which took over the Central Negros Electric Cooperative as distribution utility last month, is the second to announce a rate decrease for December.
The other day, the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative said that its residential rate decreased by P1.0845/kWh. This means that its MCOs will pay P13.9543 each kilowatt-hour of electricity consumed, from P15.0388/kWh in November, also due to lowered WESM pricing. | CGC
