Altura Legacy Land, Inc. broke ground on Thursday, June 11, for “Gateway 5000,” a 5,000-square-meter commercial development site in Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia, aimed at expanding business activities in the area.

According to Ma. Lilia Villanueva, president of Altura Legacy Land, Inc., the project’s name and location are directly tied to its size and its position along the main approach to the town.

The development will feature the municipality’s first Robinsons Supermarket, which Villanueva said will occupy a significant portion of the hub alongside smaller retail ventures and community spaces.

While clearing operations are ongoing, Villanueva said the project’s final timeline will depend on regulatory approvals.

“Hopefully, we will have a soft opening by the end of the year—that is our goal—but it depends on how quickly we can get licenses and how quickly we can clear the area,” Villanueva said.

She added that the project represents a deeply personal investment for her family and has already generated commercial interest.

Villanueva explained that the decision to develop the property in Murcia was prompted by her family’s long-standing connection to the town.

She said their farms have been in the area for generations, dating back to her great-great-grandfather, making the project a true family legacy.

Meanwhile, Murcia Mayor Gerry Rojas said the project marks another milestone for the town.

“We take care of our investors here, as this is a fast-growing municipality,” Rojas said. | TMD
