The delivery of public safety services in Negros Occidental got a major boost with the inauguration of modern police stations in E.B. Magalona town and Sagay City on June 10.
The inauguration ceremonies were led by PBrig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, regional director of Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), and Col. Dennis Wenceslao, provincial director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.
During the separate turnover rites, the two police officials handed over the symbolic keys to the new facilities to E.B. Magalona Mayor Matthew Louis Malacon and Sagay City Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva.
The Sagay City Police Station was completed at a cost of P25 million.
Construction started on June 9, 2025 and was completed a year later on June 10, 2026.
The E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station was built with a project cost of P15.91 million. Construction began on March 18, 2025 and was completed on Jan. 12, 2026.
In a statement, the PRO-NIR said the new facilities are expected to enhance police visibility, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen the delivery of law enforcement services through faster coordination, improved response times, and more effective public safety operations in their respective communities.
The police stations will also support the implementation of the SAFE NIR Dial 911 Program, the flagship emergency response initiative of PRO-NIR aimed at ensuring swift coordination, improved accessibility, and immediate police assistance across the region.
Cardiño said the completion of the two police facilities reflects the strong partnership among the Philippine National Police, local government units, stakeholders, and local communities in promoting peace, security, and development.
He emphasized that while modern infrastructure enhances police capabilities, the true value of every police station lies in the professionalism, integrity, discipline, and compassion demonstrated by the personnel serving within it. | GB
