A total of 2,490 Bacolod City College (BCC) students received financial assistance totaling P8.8 million Nov. 5, to support their educational needs and ease the financial burdens on their families.

The distribution formed part of the Bacolod City government’s educational assistance program, which provides varying allowance amounts depending on student qualifications.

Mayor Greg Gasataya said that 833 scholars each received P5,500, while 940 got P7,500, and 717 were granted P10,000.

“We know educational expenses go beyond tuition and other school fees, and there are still many school-related costs. Hopefully, this helps you reach your dreams and lightens the load carried by our parents,” Gasataya told the city scholars.

In addition to the cash allowances, Gasataya said the city government has free graduation services for the graduating class, an initiative he started last school year.

The city also announced plans to launch the BCC Students Portal to streamline online enrollment, grade viewing, and student records management. | TMD
