Bacolod officials have urged the public to take precautionary measures against extreme heat as temperatures continue to rise.
Councilor Em Ang, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Health, advised residents to stay hydrated, and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak sun hours.
“We already have a resolution addressed to the Bacolod City Health Office, and our office is actively disseminating information through social media and other channels to reach the barangays, also through the Liga ng mga Barangay,” she said.
She emphasized the importance of using sun protection when going outside, and recommended limiting the intake of caffeine, sweetened beverages, and alcohol.
Ang, a registered nurse, noted that the City Health Office and the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (BDRRMO) remain on standby to respond to heat-related illnesses and other medical emergencies.
She said that no serious heat-related incidents have been reported, so far, but emphasized that they are constantly monitoring and keeping watch for any such cases. | TMD
