The 8th Marang Festival of Barangay Divina Colonia in Sagay City, Negros Occidental, is set to return on Sept. 18-19, and will bring together community activities that celebrate the locally-grown marang and the people whose livelihoods and traditions are connected to it.
Carrying the theme “Matam-is na Marang, Matam-is na Yuhom sang Palaabuton”, the festival will open on Sept. 18 with a parade, Zumba sa Plaza, thanksgiving mass, and Bayanihan sa Barangay.
The opening program will feature the ribbon-cutting of Marang Village, dance presentations, a marang innovative cooking contest, marang eat-all-you-can, biggest/heaviest marang competition, marang dance, the launching of a marang tree-planting activity, and the Dr. Roberto G. Mahilom Excellence Awards.
Afternoon activities include motocross and the Ika-8 Tikang Para sa Dunang Manggad, while the evening will feature the Marang Festival Got Talent, raffle draw, and DJ Night and Disco para sa Kabataan, the city said in a press release.
Sagaynons and visitors are invited to join the celebration and experience the community’s food, culture, creativity, and local products. ||
