Councilor Homer Bais said Nov. 4 that his position within the Team Asenso coalition remains unclear following differences with its leader, Bacolod Lone District Rep. Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez, and colleagues at the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

Bais addressed the situation after raising concerns over the budget breakdown for the city’s legislative building project, specifically regarding an additional P250 million on top of the initial P515-million allocation.

“I don’t know how they view me right now,” Bais said, adding they have not signed any membership documents, unlike national political parties.

Bais and 10 other SP members, except for Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr., ran under the Team Asenso banner in the 2025 elections.

The councilor said that while he initially fully supported the vision presented for Bacolod, which was anchored on transparency, accountability, and good governance, issues arise when their positions no longer aligned with each other.

When asked if he considers himself part of the SP minority, Bais refrained from making a specific label, stating that the public can evaluate the dynamics based on deliberations and positions made during their sessions. | TMD
