The city government of Bago, led by Mayor Mayette Javellana, has signed July 7 a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) for the establishment of a substation in Bantayan Park in the city.
“This substation is absolutely essential for the continuous progress, peace and order in Bago,” Javellana stressed, adding that “true progress is built on the foundation of safety and unity.”
Coast Guard District Southern Visayas commander, Commodore Christopher Auro, said the partnership reflects a common vision of building safer, more secure, and more resilient coastal communities.

“It represents our collective commitment to enhancing maritime safety, security, environmental protection, search and rescue, and effective enforcement of maritime laws within the waters of Bago and its neighboring coastal areas,” Auro said in a city press release.
The substation will bring essential coast guard services closer to the people, enabling us to respond more swiftly on emergencies, protect lives and property, and strengthen engagement with coastal stakeholders, he stressed.
Javellana said the new substation is a symbol of what can be achieved when people work together with shared vision and purpose. “It reminds us that as Bago grows, we are not just building structures, we are securing the dreams, the livelihood, and the well-being of every family who calls this beautiful city their home.” ||
