A group of companies owned by Filipino business magnate Enrique Razon have launched coordinated relief operations to assist communities affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck parts of Mindanao on June 8.
The humanitarian response, led by Primelectric, International Container Terminal Services Inc., and Manila Water, provided immediate aid to local government units and residents in the hardest-hit areas of Sarangani, South Cotabato, and General Santos City.
In a statement, the Razon group of companies said they distributed cash assistance and essential relief goods, including bottled drinking water, rice, canned food, and other basic necessities, to families displaced by the earthquake.
Fuel for generator sets was also provided to help restore critical services in affected communities.
To address urgent water needs, Manila Water deployed a mobile water treatment plant to ensure residents and evacuation centers had access to safe and clean drinking water.
Primelectric supplied solar lamps and industrial fans to improve living conditions for evacuees staying in temporary shelters.
The relief efforts form part of the Razon Group’s broader commitment to supporting disaster-stricken communities and aiding recovery initiatives in the affected provinces.
“As communities begin the long process of rebuilding, the Razon Group remains committed to providing meaningful assistance and standing in solidarity with those affected,” the companies said, emphasizing their continued support for recovery and rehabilitation efforts.
Officials of the affected local government units in Mindanao welcomed the assistance, noting that the timely delivery of supplies and services has helped address immediate needs while recovery operations continue across the region. ||
