In a statement, the PRO-NIR said the deployment covers strategic areas and includes mobile, motorcycle, and foot patrols, traffic assistance, checkpoints, border control operations, reactionary standby support force, and other law enforcement and public safety operations.
Police personnel have been also positioned in key areas, including transportation hubs, major thoroughfares, public places, and other locations where increased movement and gatherings were expected.
The observance of the Ninoy Aquino Day ended peacefully, with no untoward incident as reported by the police.
Ninoy Aquino Day is observed to commemorate the life and legacy of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., whose assassination on Aug. 21, 1983 became a pivotal moment in the Philippines’ struggle for democracy. | GPB
