
An estimated P258 million worth of projects for Negros Occidental will be turned over Tuesday, Dec. 8, by Department of Agriculture Secretary William Dar to various beneficiaries in the province.
Engineer Albert Barrogo, Regional Agricultural Engineering Chief, said first in the itinerary of Secretary Dar is the launching of cash/food assistance for farmers and fishermen affected by the health crisis.
Under the Bayanihan Act 2 recipients for the cash/food assistance are farmers of corn, coconut , sugarcane and the fisherfolks.
Secretary Dar will lead the distribution of P3000 cash and P2,000 worth of rice, chicken and eggs to 120 beneficiaries. The number of participants for the turn over rites was limited in compliance to the health protocols.
The recipient-farmers are those who did not avail any assistance from the government through the Social Amelioration Program.
Secretary Dar will also meet with 70 participants from 39 farmers association in Negros Occidental for the distribution of farm machineries under the rice Competitiveness Enhancement Program, where he will turn over P195 million worth of farm equipment.
Also in the schedule of the DA secretary is the turn-over of two bridges constructed under the Philippine Rural Development Program of the Department of Agriculture. The projects are located in Barangay Sicaba and Caduhaan in Cadiz City worth P 60.3 million.
Dar will capped his schedule in Negros Occidental with the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement with the president of the Central Philippine State University – Kabankalan Campus for the establishment of nurseries for cacao, sweet potato and bamboo.
The CPSU- Kabankalan has initiated massive production of cacao, sweept potato and bamboo for distribution to farmers in the province. The MOA signing will be held at CPSU Victorias City campus. — MML
