Fire destroyed eight hectares of sugarcane fields at Hacienda Constancia in Barangay 5, Isabela, Negros Occidental on Sunday, March 15.
Firefighters of the Bureau of Fire and Protection contained the fire more than an hour after they responded to the incident.
Estimated damage was placed at P2 million.
Initial investigation showed the fire of yet to be determined origin rapidly spread due to strong winds.
Meanwhile, the New People’s Army has denied any involvement in the burning of a sugarcane field at Sitio Hacienda Jose Baling, Barangay Libacao, Himamaylan City on March 11.
According to the BFP, the fire incident damaged one hectare of sugarcane plantation. | GB
