Talisay Mayor Rowena Lizares met with officials of the Department of the Interior and Local Government-Negros Island Region on preparations for the first NIR National Women’s Month celebration that will kick off on March 2.
Anchored on the theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society”, the celebration aims to highlight the vital role of women in nation-building and to strengthen collective efforts toward building inclusive communities.
As host of the first regional activity in the NIR, the City of Talisay reaffirmed its commitment to advancing gender equality through policies, programs, and grassroots initiatives that promote equal opportunities for all—regardless of gender, background, or sector.

Discussions also underscored the importance of integrating gender-responsive approaches in governance, public service, disaster response, human resource management, and community development, the city said in a press release.
The observance seeks to reaffirm commitment to gender equality and inclusivity, emphasizing how these principles can be practiced in workplaces, schools, barangays, and homes; recognize and celebrate empowered women whose leadership, resilience, and contributions continue to shape society and inspire future generations, and;
Encourage collective responsibility among government agencies, community leaders, and citizens in championing gender equality and fostering an inclusive environment for all.
The collaborative engagement between the local government and DILG-NIR demonstrated a unified stand in promoting women’s empowerment and ensuring that gender equality remains a shared responsibility across all sectors of society, the city stressed. ||
