The heart of the community is focused on healing and rebuilding in the aftermath of Typhoon Tino, and Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod shares in the commitment to shared recovery.

This was stressed by Sherwin Lucas, area general manager of Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod and Iloilo, during the Christmas tree lighting ceremony Nov. 21.

“A month ago, we had been planning a truly spectacular show for this evening, following our tradition of a grand celebration to usher in the Yuletide season,” Lucas told the attendees. “However, following the recent devastation brought upon our province by Typhoon Tino, we knew we had to shift our focus entirely.”

“We chose to simplify this event so resources can be channeled to support various communities needing it more,” he added.

Lucas said the true spirit of Christmas “is the eternal miracle of hope arriving in a world full of pain, gently reminding every single person that they are not forgotten.”

Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod will also conduct a series of fundraising activities, with the proceeds directly going to supporting vital rehabilitation and community aid through its trusted partner, the Philippine Air Force, he said.

These include the Pledge of Hope, where guests can pledge any amount of support, and in turn, will receive a paper ornament to write messages of encouragement and hang it directly on the hotel’s Christmas tree;

The Art with a Heart, with Art Cove artists and their friends donating their beautiful artworks for auction, with sales going towards the hotel’s community aid fund, and;

The Gifts of Hope, with Park Inn by Radisson as a designated drop-off point for anyone, who wishes to donate wrapped gifts for children.

“These will be collected and distributed on Dec. 17, ensuring that the joy and meaning of Christmas continue to resonate to our children, even in the midst of devastation,” Lucas said.

He said that the Christmas tree lighting signifies that even amidst the challenges left by the typhoon, a greater promise remains. “This light stands for empathy, resilience, hope, and gratitude.”

Neil Rumbaoa, vice president for Business Development of SM Hotels and Conventions Corp., who was guest of honor at the event, said that notwithstanding natural calamities, it has been a terrific year for Park Inn.

The hotel has come a long way since its early days, Rumbaoa said. “It has not always been easy. But the hotel team ploughed through.
