P25.5M in drugs seized in Region 6

The Police Regional Office (PRO-6)  confiscated P25.5 million worth of illegal drugs, including shabu and dried marijuana leaves, from 182 arrested drug peddlers during a two-week operation in Western Visayas.

In a statement, the PRO-6 said that the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) recovered the biggest volume of illegal drugs pegged at P8.18 million, which is equivalent to 32.03 percent of the total confiscation in Region 6 from Sept. 1 to 15.

NOCPPO also accounted for 67 drug suspects while the Bacolod City Police Office nabbed 29 drug suspects.

The Iloilo City Police Office accounted for 38 drug suspects; Regional Drug Enforcement Unit-6, 11; Capiz PPO, 7; Aklan PPO, 4; Antique PPO, 3; and Guimaras PPO, 2.

PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, police regional director of Western Visayas, urged all police units to keep on pushing with their campaign against illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, a total of 285 fugitives were also separately arrested by the police in Western Visayas, of which 111 were nabbed in Negros Occidental while 12, in Bacolod City. | GB
