Another batch of scholars of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental (PGNO) graduated with a Certificate in Educational Administration and Supervision in rites held at the University of St. La Salle-Bacolod Sept. 11.
The scholarship is a three-semester program sponsored by the PGNO, in partnership with the USLS and DepEd Negros Occidental, and aims to develop the competencies of school heads and improve the quality of education in public schools.
It also aims to empower school heads with modern management strategies to elevate educational standards and foster community-driven learning environments.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, who attended the event, said the scholarship reflects a shared vision of having schools led by capable and committed leaders, who can respond to the changing needs of education.
He said that investing in school heads is also an investment in the province’s education system, as effective school leadership plays a key role in improving teaching and learning outcomes.
Lacson expressed hope that the graduates will apply the knowledge and skills they gained from the program in their respective schools, and help create better learning opportunities for students, the Capitol said in a press release Sept. 12.
Representatives from participating academic divisions and partner-institutions attended to honor the graduates’ commitment to leadership excellence.
Also present were Board Member Rita Gatuslao – chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Education, Negros Occidental Scholarship Program OIC Karen Sunday, DepEd Negros Occidental Schools Division superintendent Gladys Amylaine Sales, USLS Chancellor Minnie Chua, and USLS vice chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Ricver Ureta, among others. ||
