The Barangay Council of Singcang-Airport has expressed intention to donate a 500- square meter lot for the new and permanent location of Police Station 8 in Bacolod City.

The proposed site is located just beside the SM Prime Holdings Inc. property on the old airport runway along the J.R. Torres Subdivision.

Barangay Singcang-Airport owns a 4,000-square meter property in the said area, which is the location of the village gymnasium and the future location of public market and health center.

The said property was donated to the barangay by the Torres Family.

The proposal was discussed in a recent meeting of village chief Caesar Distrito with Maj. Peter John Pesuena, head of Administrative Division, Police Regional Office-6; and Maj. Eugene Tolentino, chief of Police Station 8.

“I have already informed Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez and Cong. Greg Gasataya of this development. We asked for Cong. Gasataya’s assistance to fund the construction of the Philippine National Police (PNP)-standard three-story building,” Distrito said.

The present location of Police Station 8 in Barangay Pahanocoy is far from the center of its area of responsibility and sits on a property not owned by the PNP. | GB
