The province of Negros Occidental and its 30 component cities and municipalities were lauded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for achieving the 2024 Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) distinction.
In a statement, the DILG Negros Occidental said “the unwavering commitment to accountability and financial excellence of the concerned local government units (LGUs) sets a remarkable standard in local governance”.
Aside from the provincial government, the GFH passers from Negros Occidental are the municipalities of E.B. Magalona, Binalbagan, Calatrava, Candoni, Cauayan, Hinigaran, Ilog, Isabela, La Castellana, Manapla, Moises Padilla, Murcia, Pontevedra, Pulupandan, San Enrique, Toboso, Valladolid and Don Salvador Benedicto.
The component cities include Victorias, Bago, Cadiz, Escalante, Himamaylan, Kabankalan, La Carlota, Sagay, San Carlos, Silay, Sipalay, and Talisay
Only Hinobaan town failed to make it to the list of GFH passers.
To be awarded the GFH accolade, an LGU must meet accounting and auditing standard regulations and pass an evaluation conducted by the Commission on Audit.
According to the DILG, passing the GFH, which seeks to recognize LGUs that excel in financial transparency, is a requirement for the Seal of Good Local Governance. | GB
