The Commission on Elections reminded new voters to register on July 4 to 23.

Region 6 Comelec director, Atty. Wilfredo Balisado, said Wednesday, June 29, that all Comelec offices will be open from Monday to Saturday to accommodate voters, who want to register.

There will be no extension, Balisado stressed.

Eligible to register are those who will be 18 years old on Dec. 5 this year, and those who will be turning 15 years old, also on Dec. 5, 2022, for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) voters.

While there are moves to reset the scheduled barangay and SK elections slated this December, Balisado said they are still preparing for it.

“Based on the Omnibus Election Code, voters’ registration must be done four months prior to the election date,” Balisado pointed out.

Effective July 1, all the reshuffled Comelec officials are returning to their previous posts, he added.

Balisado said he will be returning to his previous position as Comelec regional director of the Zamboanga Peninsula, or Region 9.

Dennis Ausan, who was reassigned to Basilan during the May 9 elections, will return to Western Visayas to reassume his post as Comelec regional director.

Acting provincial Comelec supervisor Roberto Salazar is going back to Aklan, while Ian Lee Ananoria is slated to return to Negros Occidental, also to reassume his post./GB
