The families of the five Bulacan rescuers, who recently perished in the line of duty, received the proceeds from the fallen heroes’ life insurance policies from Insular Life (InLife).

Jerson Resurreccion, George Agustin, Troy Justin Agustin, Marby Bartolome, and Narciso Calayag Jr., died en route to a rescue mission in San Miguel, Bulacan during the onslaught of super typhoon Karding in Central Luzon last month.

The families of the five Bulacan rescue heroes received their respective life insurance benefits from InLife, and with them during the ceremony Sept. 30, were Bulacan Vice-Governor Alexis Castro, Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando, InLife First Vice President and Territory 3 head Arnaldo Aquino, Civil Defense Administrator Raymundo Ferrer, and Bulacan PDRRMO chief Liz Mungcal.

InLife First Vice President and Territory 2 (Metro Manila and General Agencies) head Arnaldo Aquino, and Metro North Region head Al Sanchez handed over the checks to their beneficiaries during the tribute, “Salamat at Paalam…Luksang Parangal para sa mga Bayaning Tagapagligtas”, held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in Malolos City Sept. 30.

There is no other better expression of love than laying down their lives for the safety of their fellowmen. Through the partnership of Bulacan PDRRMO and InLife, they are leaving life insurance benefits to their families. They may no longer be here, but they still show their love and care for their orphaned loved ones. If they were here, I am sure that they would tell you how much they love you, that you should go on with life, and fulfill your dreams, Aquino said in his message.

The five, who were insured together with 21 other members of the Bulacan PDRRMO, availed of InLife’s I-Shield Prime term life insurance in 2021.

“InLife salutes our five fallen heroes for their heroism, and the PDRRMO for the noble work they do, ensuring that their fellow Filipinos are safe even if it means laying their lives for others,” InLife President and CEO Raoul Antonio Littaua said in a press release Oct. 7.

“We, at InLife, also endeavor to stand behind Filipino families. In times like this, time is of the essence, and it’s a must to expedite the processing of their insurance benefits to help the families cope with the loss. This is our commitment as we share in their grief,” Littaua added.

He said it is important to have life insurance, especially during uncertain times, as it becomes a shield from the difficulties a family could face due to the loss of its breadwinner. ||
