Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya said Sept. 9 that he already directed the City Legal Office and the City Administrator to engage in further dialogue with vendors at South Capitol Road, on ordinance-compliant relocation site.
Gasataya acknowledged the challenge faced by the city, noting that the vendors reside in the immediate area where they operate.
While expressing understanding toward city enforcement officers, the mayor emphasized that their frustrations do not justify unprofessional behavior. He urged continuous innovation in the enforcement of city ordinances.
The mayor specifically instructed the city administrator to meet again with the four remaining vendors in the area and evaluate possible relocations.
Gasataya noted that these vendors had originally operated along Lacson Street before relocating to their present site.
City administrator, Atty. Mark Steven Mayo, said that vending along South Capitol Road is not allowed, and they are now looking for alternative areas for concerned vendors.
Under the city’s vending ordinance — C.O. 1009 — only ambulant vendors operating along North Capitol Road are permitted during designated hours, provided that they have special permits. | TMD
