The Himamaylan City government boosted its security and disaster risk reduction and management efforts with four new rescue vehicles funded under the FY 2022 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Incentive Fund.

The vehicles, worth P7 million, came after Himamaylan earned the SGLG in 2022, along with other local government units.

Personnel from the Department of the Interior and Local Government Negros Occidental Field Office joined the turnover and blessing of the vehicles Jan. 5.

Himamaylan City Mayor Raymund Tongson (center) and Vice Mayor Justin Gatuslao receive the ceremonial keys from Engr. Mark Gabiota (4th from right) of DILG Negros Occidental, during the turnover and blessing of the four new rescue vehicles Jan. 5, funded under the FY 2022 SGLG Incentive Fund.

Mayor Raymund Tongson said the project is a testament to the city’s commitment to ensure and prioritize the safety and welfare of Himamaylanons.

“This upgrade in our services is only made possible through the collective efforts of our city’s functionaries, which enabled us to pass the DILG SGLG 2022 national assessment,” Tongson said.

Himamaylan City also passed the 2023 SGLG national validation, and expects another incentive fund this year.

The back-to-back SGLG award of the local government is the first in the history of Himamaylan City, and made possible under the leadership of Mayor Tongson, a press release from the LGU said.

DILG6 regional director Juan Jovian Ingeniero, in his message delivered by Engr. Mark Gabiota of the DILG Negros Occ. FO, commended the Himamaylan LGU for successfully getting the Seal and for implementing projects for the good of Himamaylanons.

Ingeniero also urged the local government to continue its service to the people with excellence and dedication, for more progressive communities in Himamaylan City. ||
