The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office reported on Sunday, July 12 that many of the 1,202 families who evacuated due to effects of southwest monsoon enhanced by Tropical Storm Inday started to return home over the weekend.
Sea travel operations have resumed in several routes, including from Negros Occidental to Cebu and Bacolod to Iloilo via roll-on, roll-off vessels, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.
In addition, all water-related activities in southern Negros have resumed operations unless suspended anew due to adverse weather or other related conditions, it added.
Lt. Junior Grade James Carbajosa, chief of PCG Station Southern Negros, reminded all inbound and outbound sea travelers as well as local fisherfolk to take extra precautionary measures while at sea as weather conditions may still change.
Heavy rains and flooding hit 46 barangays of 10 local government units in Negros Occidental, the PDRRMO report showed.
It also reported that a house was destroyed while 21 others sustained damage due to the heavy rains and flooding. | GPB
