A 25-year-old laborer drowned in the Himoga-an River at Purok Bagong Silang, Barangay Bato, Sagay City, Negros Occidental Sept. 8, the police said.
The laborer was fishing while drinking alcohol with three companions, and later jumped into a deep portion of the river but failed to hold onto a large rock, and drowned.
His companions retrieved him and notified his family, who transported him via a barangay vehicle to the Alfredo E. Marañon Sr. District Memorial Hospital.
He was declared dead on arrival, the police said.
The victim’s mother reported the incident to the police Sept. 9, and authorities said no signs of foul play were found. | TMD
