The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod has authorized the Bacolod Gugma Foundation Inc. to process special permits for 272 festival kiosks and 242 ambulant vendor spaces in three MassKara Festival main sites.
Councilor Al Victor Espino, chairperson of the SP Committee on Laws, Ordinances and Good Government, said the sanggunian granted Sept. 9 the request of Gugma to allow it and participating vendors to start processing the special permits.
Gugma corporate secretary, Atty. Hannah Lea Tañoso, in her letter to Espino Sept. 8, said that 139 kiosks, booths, or stalls spaces will operate around the Bacolod public plaza, and 133 similar businesses at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) grounds, all from Oct. 1 to 18.
She added that ambulant vendors’ spaces will also be offered, with 82 to operate from corner Luzuriaga Street to corner Gonzaga Street, 30 from corner Gonzaga Street to corner Cuadra Street, 40 from corner Gatuslao Street to corner San Juan Street, 76 around the BCGC area, and 15 slots for peddlers to be stationed also at the BCGC grounds.
“We intend to operate (these kiosks and vendors spaces) in accordance with all applicable city ordinances, regulations, health and safety requirements, sanitation standards, and other permitting requirements,” Tañoso assured Espino. “We likewise undertake to maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and proper appearance” of the stalls.
Espino said that per the approved measure, Gugma and the vendors can now coordinate with the Business Permits and Licensing Office to finalize the documentation and secure the designated commercial spots. | TMD, CGC
