Negros Occidental and the highly-urbanized Bacolod City are now under minimal and low risk COVID-19 classifications, respectively, the Department of Health 6 said.

It added that the COVID-19 situation in Negros Occidental and Bacolod showed signs of further improvement, adding that both have a negative two-week growth rate at negative 46 and negative 43, respectively, low-risk daily attack rate of 0.70 percent and 1.74 percent per 100,000 population.

The Health Care Utilization Rate of Negros Occidental was also reported by DOH-WV at 18.91 percent and Bacolod at 27.31 percent.

Despite these positive developments, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson encouraged the public not to be complacent, as the country is bracing for the entry of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, which is described as “highly mutated”, compared to other  variants.

“COVID is still around so we should never let our guard down,” Lacson told local chief executives during the general assembly of the United Negros Alliance Dec. 4 in Bago City, Negros Occidental.

The COVID-19 active cases in Negros Occidental further decreased to 392, as of Dec. 5, the Provincial Incident Management Team said. –GB
