The Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) is now investigating allegations of threats and intimidations by its soldiers against civilians in Hacienda Luisa, Barangay Ma-ao, Bago City in Negros Occidental.

In a statement, the 3ID said it does not and will never tolerate any form of threat or intimidation by soldiers, stressing also that respect for human rights remains its foremost priority.

“We are committed to ensuring that our troops uphold the highest standard of discipline and accountability in the performance of their duty,” the statement further said.

The 3ID said that it has ordered an investigation into the allegations to determine the truth and ensure appropriate actions are taken, if violations occurred.

The findings of the investigation will also help strengthen existing safeguards and internal measures, reinforcing the unit’s zero-tolerance policy against any form of misconduct, it added. | GPB
