Fire broke out in a populated area in Purok Magnolia, Brgy. 7, Bacolod City Thursday night, with 30 houses destroyed, the Bureau of Fire Protection said.
The BFP reported that the fire initially originated from the house of Richard Benjamin, who reportedly engaged in fixing appliances aside from being a driver.
The fire, which started at about 11 p.m. of July 6, was put out by responding firefighters at 1:36 a.m. Friday.
A certain Edmon Base was reported to have suffered a minor injury.
Estimated damage was placed by BFP at P300,000, as the houses destroyed were made of light materials.
Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Benitez, who rushed to the fire scene almost midnight, has ordered an investigation as to why the fire trucks ran out of water.
Benitez announced plans to put up fire hydrants in the area, noting that responding fire trucks were not able to penetrate the fire scene due to limited space.
He also assured help for the fire victims./GB
