The Fellowship Baptist College (FBC), based in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, has forged a strategic partnership with MedStar Philippines Health Information Management Inc., a distinguished training service provider and innovator in health information and management system (HIMS).

The collaborative effort, which started on Feb. 8, 2024, aims to propel the expansion of the industry and contribute to Western Visayas’ vision of becoming the HIMS capital of the world.

Key participants in the meeting included members of the HIMS technical working group led by Department of Trade and Industry-Region 6 Director Rachel Nufable, DTI Provincial Director Lynna Joy Cardinal, MedStar Philippines president/chief executive officer Judilyn Cañete, and the leadership of FBC.

MedStar and FBC deliberated on the implementation of HIM training courses to meet the industry’s evolving needs and nurture a pool of talented professionals, positioning FBC as the leader in HIM training in southern Negros.

This coming April 24, MedStar and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will conduct a competency standard development workshop to ensure that MedStar’s proposed curriculum aligns with the TESDA qualifications.

Nufable provided an insightful overview and emphasized the necessity to train more HIMS specialists as she conveyed the DTI’s encouragement for schools to align their curriculum with the industry’s urgent requirements.

Cañete shared MedStar’s unwavering commitment to delivering training that addresses these concerns, emphasizing the value of training Filipinos through both local and international courses.

Lawyer Robert Estandarte, vice chairman of FBC Board of Trustees, highlighted the remarkable growth of the Philippine information technology-business process management-HIM sector, solidifying its position as one of the industry’s fastest-growing segments.

Recognizing the need to meet global demands, FBC is dedicated to developing digital literacy, innovation, and competencies, expanding access to educational opportunities. ||
