CIDG AGENT, ‘GUN-RUNNERS’ INJURED IN ENTRAPMENT OPERATION

An operative of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and two suspects allegedly involved in gunrunning activities were injured during an entrapment operation, that led to a shooting incident this morning, Feb. 24, at the highway of Brgy. Taculing in Bacolod City.

Injured were P/Cpl. Rey Sivestre, a member of the CIDG Bacolod Field Office, and the two suspects identified by the police as Michael Bintoroso, of Brgy. Codcod, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, and Alex Vilegas of Brgy. Pahanocoy, Bacolod City.

Initial investigations conducted by the Bacolod City Police Office Station 6 showed that a sting operation was conducted by CIDG operatives, in response to reports of gunrunning activities that involved the two arrested suspects.

While the operation was ongoing inside the Mitsubishi Montero vehicle of CIDG personnel, the two suspects sensed that they were transacting with authorities. A gun-grappling and shooting incident ensued.

Both suspects reportedly suffered injuries in the foot and leg, while the CIDG agent sustained a gunshot injury in his hand.

All of them are now being treated at the Doctors’ Hospital in Bacolod City.

Recovered from the scene of incident were a 45 caliber Armscor pistol with two magazines, a caliber 9mm pistol with three magazines, two cellular phones, and the black Yamaha 155 motorcycle of the two suspects./GB
