Mixing vaccine brands has never been proven safe and effective, and the Bacolod Vaccination Council is discouraging residents from receiving shots of different brands in two doses.

This was what Emergency Operations Center executive director Em Ang told reporters after receiving reports that some vaccinees would like to try brand mixing.

The EOC is warning the public against getting vaccine jabs of different brands since this has not been proven to give protection against the coronavirus disease and there is no scientific data to support it.

Ang urged the public not to risk their health by “mixing the brands,” adding that the Department of Health has not issued any advisory or statement affirming the safety of being inoculated with two different vaccines.

When it comes to their health, they should always choose what is safe, the EOC said.

Contact Tracing Cluster head, Dr. Rosalie Deocampo, reiterated that the best vaccine is the one available. She said that fully vaccinated Bacolodnons only experienced mild symptoms and were even asymptomatic when they contracted COVID-19. These individuals were administered with two doses of the same brand of vaccine.

Deocampo added it is important to note that an individual is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the second dose.

“So far, no fully vaccinated Bacolodnon ever had COVID-19 severe symptoms,” she said. – MML
