The Central Negros Electric Cooperative Inc. said this afternoon, Nov. 19, that its residential rate this month is P10.0621 per kilowatt hour, or a decrease of P0.1167/kWh, from the P10.1788/kWh rate in October.

The decrease can be attributed to the reduction in generation, transmission and system loss charges, implementation of the Time-Of-Use (TOU) rate for 24MW as per the directive of the Energy Regulatory Commission dated Oct. 25, the reduction in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) pricing under the ERC letter in September, as well as other pass-through charges, such as value-added tax, Atty. Danny Pondevilla, Ceneco project supervisor and acting general manager, said in the advisory.

The pass-through charges, equivalent to P8.8755/kWh of the total power rate, include the Generation and Transmission charges, ERC-approved adjustments, government subsidies and taxes.

Pondevilla stressed that only P1.1866/kWh of the power rate goes to Ceneco through Distribution, Supply, Metering (DSM) Charges and Reinvestment Fund for Sustainable Capex for the administrative and operational services of the power coop.

Since 2010, Ceneco’s DSM charges and RFSC rate did not increase, he added.

He advised consumers to look at their kilowatt-hour consumption in monitoring their monthly electricity usage, and not the amount since the latter may vary depending on the pass-through charges.

Meanwhile, Ceneco said there will be a power interruption from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 23, affecting portion of Ilaya in Brgy. Taloc, Bago City.

Pondevilla said they will conduct maintenance activities to ensure the stability of distribution lines, and will install a 50kVa distribution transformer with accessories as well as string the secondary drop and install secondary metering.| NND
