A job order (JO) employee of the Hinigaran LGU is facing frustrated murder charges after allegedly shooting three family members, including a seven-year-old boy and a senior citizen, during a heated altercation over a parked vehicle along Osmeña Street in Barangay 2, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, Aug. 30.
Initial investigation of the Hinigaran Municipal Police Station showed that the suspect, alias “Lino”, 52, assigned at the Municipal Water District, got into an altercation with the family regarding a vehicle parked on the roadside.
The suspect requested that the vehicle be moved slightly to allow his own car to pass, but the interaction quickly escalated into a bitter argument, the police said.
The suspect then reportedly entered his vehicle, retrieved a firearm, opened fire on the group, and hit a seven-year-old minor in his left ankle, a 64-year-old senior citizen in his right thigh, and a 37-year-old woman in her right hip.
The three victims, all residents in the area, were rushed to the Hinigaran Medical Clinic for treatment and have since been declared in stable conditions.
Police recovered a .45-caliber pistol, two magazines, and seven rounds of live ammunition from the suspect. | TMD
