Barangay Cabanbanan bagged the championship trophy and P100,000 in cash prize at the Himaya Festival street and arena dance competition held at the Himamaylan National High School grandstand in the city, April 7.
Cabanbanan also took home P20,000 in cash as Most Supportive Group and Best Production Design winner.
It bested 16 other barangays in the festival dance competition.
Barangay Nabalian won P50,000 as first runner-up, Mambagaton – second runner-up, P30,000; and To-oy, third runner-up, with a cash prize of P20,000.
Nabalian secured an additional prize of P35,000, for clinching three special awards, including Best Choreography, Best Street Dance, and Best in Costume.
Barangay Aguisan was recognized for having the Best Concept, earning them a cash prize of P10,000.
Other competing barangays were San Antonio, Buenavista, Carabalan, Poblacion-II, Sara-et, Su-ay, Talaban, Caradio-an, Poblacion-III, Poblacion-IV, Cabadiangan, and Poblacion-I, the city said in a press release April 9.
Expressing gratitude, Mayor Raymund Tongson extended his thanks to the 17 participating barangays in the festival dance competition, and said he anticipates an even grander festival next year. ||
