Crime incidents in Bacolod City dropped by 34 percent in October, during which the city celebrated the MassKara Festival for three weeks, said city police spokesman Lt. Col. Sherlock Gabana.
In a statement, Gabana said that the Bacolod City Police Office recorded 76 crime incidents, a reduction of 34.48 percent, compared to 116 incidents in the same period last year.
The 8 Focus Crimes, including murder, homicide, physical injuries, rape, robbery, theft and carnapping, also went down from 23 in 2021, to 12 in October this year, a reduction of 47.82 percent, BCPO records show.
This also resulted in the reduction of the Average Monthly Crime Rate (AMCR) by 34.48 percent.
Gabana noted a slight reduction in the overall Crime Solution Efficiency, from 89.66 percent in October last year, to 78.95 percent this year, although it still surpassed the BCPO target, set by the higher office, at 66.41 percent, Gabana said.
He attributed the decrease in crime incidents and AMCR to the intensified police initiated operations, focused police operations and crime prevention measures conducted by the various police units of BCPO./GB
