The city government of Victorias, through the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office, opened “Abuno”, the first solo visual art exhibition in Victorias, featuring the creative works of Victoriasanon artist Janine Ledesma at the Victorias Café and Pastry Shop June 25.
The exhibit, which runs until July 23, showcases Ledesma’s collection, inspired by the concept of “abuno”, or fertilizer, as a symbol of how culture nurtures society and empowers the youth.
Ledesma, who previously placed second in the Commission on Higher Education national on-the-spot canvas painting competition, shared the inspiration behind her artworks and the creative process behind the collection.
Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer Paolo Valladarez led the initiative to provide local artists with a platform to showcase their work and promote the city’s creative industry.
This is in line with the mandate of Mayor Abelardo Bantug III to always prioritize and support the growth and development of local artists, the city said.
The exhibition also aims to encourage greater appreciation for the visual arts while creating opportunities for homegrown artists to reach wider audiences.
As the first in a planned series of art exhibitions, the initiative highlights the artistic talent of Victoriasanons and supports the continued growth of the local creative economy.
Representing Councilor Jappy Cuaycong, Marlo Villanueva attended the opening program in support of the exhibition that opens more opportunities for Victoriasanon artists to showcase their talents while contributing to the growth of the city’s creative sector. ||
