Energy Development Corporation (EDC), the geothermal arm of First Gen Corporation, has extended additional educational assistance to scholars and elementary schools in its host communities in Negros Occidental.
EDC recently turned over five laptops and pocket Wi-Fi devices to incoming college freshmen scholars during a ceremony held at Citadines Hotel in Bacolod City.
The recipients were Princess Joanne Aceron, Jamilla Peñaflor, Chreashel Jane Milo, Valerie Llasos and Kyla Carina de la Rosa.
Erwin Magallanes, EDC head of Negros Corporate Relations, said the company believes that investing in education can help young people become future change-drivers in their communities and beyond.
The Information and Communications Technology support forms part of EDC’s SIKAT education program, which provides holistic assistance to youth through scholarships and other educational interventions.
EDC also continued its support for elementary schools through the distribution of school supplies.
On Aug. 17, the company distributed 1,037 school bags to three schools in Barangay Mailum, marking its third school supplies distribution this year.
The initiatives are part of EDC’s continuing efforts to support education and youth development in its host communities. | GPB
