The local government of San Carlos City through the Sangguniang Panlungsod conducted a public hearing at the City Auditorium on pedicab fare hike this week.

Members of the San Carlos Pedicab Operators and Drivers Association sought the increase from P5 to P7 within the city limit and a P4 hike on the P6-rate for passengers going beyond.

SCAPODA members sought the increase, saying the present rate has been in effect for more than 8 years.

SP Member Benito Gustilo Jr., chairman of the Public Utilities and

Integrated Land Transport Terminal Committee, said that the appeal for the fare rate hike had been earlier filed but was not acted upon due to the pandemic.

Also at the public hearing were SP members Carlos Manuel Valmayor and Philip Gerard Maisog, PEMS Noven Martin Lacson and Traffic PNCO. – NWI
