Negros Oriental tallied 937 COVID-19 cases, 28 deaths, and 783 recoveries since the outbreak of the disease in the first quarter of 2020 until the end of the year, report from the Provincial Health Office showed.
The province has 146 active cases including the 29 reported on Dec. 3 with 16 from Dumaguete, three from Siaton, two each from Sibulan, Valencia, and Amlan, and one case each from Tanjay, Dauin and Manjuyod.
The PHO also reported the death of a 70-year-old dialysis patient from Pasihanon, Siquijor, who was temporarily residing in Dumaguete.
The patient was brought to a hospital in Dumaguete on Dec. 25, where he was diagnosed with pneumonia. He died Dec. 27
The patient tested positive for COVID-19 based on the swab result that was released two days after he died. — MML
