Police seized approximately 15 grams of suspected shabu, valued at P102,000, during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, Sept. 22.
Kabankalan Component City Police Station operatives also reported the recovery of a 12-gauge pistolized break-type firearm, loaded with live ammunition, and rounds of ammunition, during the arrest of the 35-year-old street-level individual.
Also confiscated were drug paraphernalia, buy-bust money, cash, and a cellular phone, the police said, adding the operation was conducted following intelligence validation and surveillance, based on information regarding drug distribution activities in Kabankalan and Himamaylan.
“This accomplishment reflects the value of proactive policing in preventing crime before it happens,” Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region director, P/Brig. Gen. Rudecindo Reales, said in a statement.
“By taking illegal drugs and an unauthorized firearm out of circulation, our personnel have addressed threats that could potentially contribute to other offenses and endanger our communities. We will continue to act on reliable information, strengthen our preventive efforts, and work closely with the public to keep our communities safe and peaceful,” Reales added.
The suspect is in police custody, and faces charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA, or the firearms law. | TMD
