The Negros Electric and Power Corp. (NEPC) has initiated technical and operational preparations to ensure the adequate supply of power during the MassKara Festival in Bacolod City, from Oct. 1-18.
Engr. Joe-Mel Zaporteza, NEPC vice president and chief operating officer, said Sept. 22 that the distribution utility began its preparatory measures last week to prevent power disruptions throughout the celebration.
“We already plan kung papaano tayo magde-deploy ng tao, so that meron tayong immediate quick response na tinatawag, as well as maintenance kung saan magkakaroon ng activities for MassKara to ensure a reliable distribution system,” he said.
Zaporteza affirmed the company’s full support for the festival, noting that they are now coordinating with the city government on festival locations where sufficient power supply would be provided.
“We are waiting signals from our generators from the Department of Energy kung ano ang magiging power supply by October. For now, what we have are all plans in terms of contingency, kung paano natin mabibigyan ng power supply ang mga venues natin for MassKara,” he added. | TMD
