The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod has commended Andrea Rose Lapid Yanson, a city scholar and graduate of the University of St. La Salle, for ranking second in the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure examination, with a rating of 91.83 percent.
The SP unanimously approved Nov. 4 a consolidated resolution of commendation, adding that Yanson’s “remarkable academic achievement in college and subsequent success in the national licensure examination exemplify the quality of education, discipline, perseverance, and intellectual excellence nurtured among the young people of Bacolod.”
A resident of Barangay Mandalagan, Yanson’s success serves as a profound inspiration to the youth of Bacolod, exemplifying that no circumstance can limit the aspirations and potential of a dedicated student, Councilor Em Ang said.
Councilor Caesar Distrito said Yanson’s educational journey reflects her deep roots and connection to the local community, having completed her elementary education at Andres Bonifacio Elementary School I, pursued her Senior High School education under the Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) strand at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, and completed her Bachelor of Science in Accountancy degree at the USLS, graduating summa cum laude.
“Her success brings immense pride not only to her family and alma maters, but also to the entire Bacolodnon community and the province of Negros Occidental, as she carries the name and reputation of her hometown with distinction on the national stage,” Distrito stressed.
The city government recognizes the importance of honoring individuals, whose exceptional achievements serve as positive examples to the younger generation, and encourage a culture of academic excellence, professional development, and civic pride, the SP said.
Mayor Greg Gasataya also congratulated Yanson, and thanked her for inspiring the youth and bringing pride to Bacolod. “When you shared your journey with us as one of our scholars in 2023, our only hope was to help ease the burden so you could focus entirely on your studies. We really believe that every young Bacolodnon’s future should be limited only by their imagination, never by their circumstances. We are very grateful that you have turned that vision into a beautiful reality.”
The Professional Regulation Commission said Nov. 3 that 3,988 out of 10,746, or 37.11 percent, passed the CPA licensure examination given by the Board of Accountancy in 18 testing centers all over the country last month.
Tyron Jones Acuña of the Kingfisher School of Business and Finance, based in Pangasinan, topped the exam with a rating of 92 percent. | CGC
