Dengue cases in Negros Occidental down by 66.8%

Negros Occidental recorded a drop of 66.8 percent in dengue cases during the first four months of 2026, surveillance data of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed.

Covering the period Jan. 4 to April 25, four dengue-related deaths were listed among the 601 reported cases.

For the same period last year, there were 1,808 dengue cases, indicating a reduction of 1,207 cases.

La Carlota City registered the highest number of cases this year, with 59.

Children aged 1 to 10 accounted for the most cases, although patients ranged from infants to 63 years old.

In the highly urbanized Bacolod City, from Jan. 1 to April 14, dengue cases decreased by 50.5 percent.

From 315 cases with two deaths in 2025, only 156 cases with zero fatality were recorded this year.

Of the 61 barangays, Singcang-Airport and Mansilingan have the highest number of dengue cases, the City Health Office reported. | GB
